Wolfpack to Clash with #4 Syracuse on Senior Night

RALEIGH – Playing its final home league contest of the 2022 campaign, the NC State men’s soccer team (5-5-3, 1-4-1 ACC) prepares for a Saturday night matchup with fourth-ranked Syracuse (12-2-1, 5-1-0 ACC). The game between the Wolfpack and the Orange is scheduled for 7 p.m. from Dail Soccer Stadium and will be broadcast live on ACCNX.

CELEBRATING OUR SENIORS

Prior to the start of Saturday’s match, NC State will honor the careers of six members of the 2022 senior class: Declan Brose, Kendall Edwards, Win Ellis, Jared Miller, Conor Kelly and Pablo Pedregosa. The team previously celebrated the career of Alex Bautista, who is using his fifth year, during its 2021 Senior Night.

• Be the 205th win in head coach George Kiefer‘s career (204-127-70)

• Be Kiefer’s 43rd victory at NC State (42-41-19)

• Be Kiefer’s 12th ACC victory with the Wolfpack (11-22-12)

• Be the Wolfpack’s first over a ranked opponent since Sept. 17, 2019

SERIES HISTORY (NC State trails 3-5-3)

• Saturday marks the 12th overall meeting between NC State and Syracuse. The teams have played at least once every season since 2013.

• The teams last met in upstate New York on Oct. 8, 2021 for a match that ended in a scoreless draw. The Wolfpack played down a man for the final 34 minutes of the double overtime outing but kept Syracuse off the board.

• NC State has beat Syracuse in two of the teams’ five meetings during the Kiefer era. The Wolfpack is 2-1-2 against the Orange since 2017, and four of those five matches have been decided by one goal or less.

• The Pack is looking for its first win against Syracuse inside Dail Soccer Stadium. The team is 1-1-2 in home matches against the Orange, but the sole victory occurred during the spring portion of the 2020-21 campaign in a match that was played at Cary Soccer Park.
