  • Simply put, a win Sunday and Ohio State will secure a Top 4 seed. A tie or a loss will bring a number of scenarios into play as six teams still have a chance at a Top 4 seed behind Michigan state heading into the final match.
  • The Buckeyes are 17-7-3 all-time against Northwestern and are undefeated against the Wildcats in the last four meetings.
  • The teams also met in the final regular season match last season in Evanston and the 2-1 OSU victory pushed the Buckeyes into the Big Ten Tournament as they were on the outside entering the match. Kayla Fischer scored in the 55th minute and then Sydney Jones collected her first collegiate goal on a PK in the 71st minute to give the Buckeyes the victory.
  • Ohio State had their seven-match unbeaten streak stopped on Thursday against Michigan State. The seven-match unbeaten streak was the longest since the 2012 season.
  • The Buckeyes have outscored their opponents over the last eight matches 24-4
  • Northwestern limps into Columbus having lost its last two matches. The Wildcats were tied for the top spot in the league a week ago but has since lost at home to Michigan State and on the road at Iowa on Thursday. The Wildcats have given up the second-fewest goals in the league behind Michigan State.
  • Ohio State has risen to No. 17 in the latest United Soccer Coaches Top 25.
  • Fischer had her five-match goal streak snapped on Thursday, but the reigning Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week still has seven goals in the last six matches.
  • Emma Sears is tops in the Big Ten at nearly two shots on goal per game. She has converted those into a team-leading eight goals this season.
