Ronaldo axed by Ten Hag for Chelsea clash after babyish Man Utd star ‘refused to come on’ vs Spurs

Ronaldo to miss Chelsea game

Man Utd have confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo will ‘not be part’ of their squad for this weekend’s game against Chelsea after his antics on Wednesday night.

PA News Agency are reporting that Erik ten Hag ‘made the call to omit Ronaldo’ from Man Utd‘s squad for this weekend’s game versus Chelsea.

Ronaldo left United’s bench before full-time in Wednesday’s convincing 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur.

The 37-year-old cut a frustrated figure trudging down the tunnel in the 89th minute, having remained an unused substitute for the win over Spurs.

“Cristiano will not be part of the Manchester United squad for this Saturday’s game against Chelsea,” read a club statement.

Ten Hag responded to Ronaldo’s actions straight after the match on Wednesday night, pledging to handle the situation.

The veteran forward has made his feelings increasingly known on his dissatisfaction with a cameo role at Old Trafford.

But now United’s Dutch boss is thought to have adopted a no-nonsense stance, putting the onus back on Ronaldo.

A separate report from The Athletic has provided further details. They state that Ronaldo was ‘made to train alone’ on Thursday.

This comes after he ‘refused to come on as a substitute’ against Tottenham. Ten Hag’s decision has been made with the ‘full backing’ of United’s board.

It is said that Ronaldo is still viewed as an ‘important part of the squad’, though he appears to be growing apart from the rest of the squad.

This is because his absence ‘didn’t make a ripple in the dressing room’ as United’s stars ‘celebrated’ the victory over Spurs without the…
