Wolfsburg got their Champions League group stage campaign off to the perfect start, as a first half Ewa Pajor brace saw them to a 4-0 victory over St Polten at the AOK Stadion on Thursday evening.

Lara Lattwein and Jill Roord were on the scoresheet in the second half as the two-time European champions secured a comfortable victory over the group stage debutants.

Wolfsburg took the lead after just eight minutes. Roord’s effort from the edge of the area fortuitously fell into the path of Pajor, who calmly found the bottom corner.

The Poland international had her second before the 15 minute mark, latching onto Sveindís Jane Jónsdóttir’s flick on, holding off the St Polten defender and calmly lifting the ball over Carina Schlüter.

Pajor and Jónsdóttir both came close to adding a third before the first half was out, the former seeing an effort held by Schlüter and the latter flashing narrowly wide.

Wolfsburg did make it three 10 minutes into the second half as Lattwein poked home the rebound after Pajor’s header had been palmed away.

Roord wrapped up the victory on the stroke of full time with a low strike into the bottom corner from the edge of the area.
