No. 14 Women’s Soccer Falls at Michigan

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Rutgers women’s soccer (13-2-2, 5-2-2) dropped a 3-2 final score at Michigan (7-7-3, 2-5-2) on Thursday evening.
 
Sara Brocious and Riley Tiernan gave the Scarlet Knights a 2-0 lead by the 11th minute, but the Wolverines came storming back with three unanswered goals in the second half to claim a home victory.
 
Brocious’ tally came just 1:25 into the game as she worked a give-and-go with Sam Kroeger in the Wolverines’ 18, resulting in Brocious’ fifth goal of the season.
 

Nine minutes later, Tiernan made it 2-0 with an unassisted, left-footed blast from the top of the Michigan box. It was her third goal of the season, and second in three matches. Rutgers went into halftime up 2-0.

 

Michigan mounted its comeback beginning in the 65th minute, cutting the Rutgers lead in half, before tying it in the 78th and moving into the lead in the 80th. Michigan outshot Rutgers, 9-6, in the second half.
