RALEIGH, N.C. — The University of Louisville women’s soccer team (6-6-2, 3-5-0) bounced back with a 1-0 win on the road against NC State (7-6-4, 2-5-1) Thursday night at Dail Soccer Complex. Corrine Dente scored the game’s lone goal in the first half and it was the difference as the Cardinal defense allowed just two shots on goal the entire night. With the win, head coach Karen Ferguson-Dayes collected her 200th career win at the helm of the Cardinals.

The Cardinals started on the front foot and had a number of chances early in the first half.

In the 23rd minute, Ravin Alexander had a chance on net that was saved by the Wolfpack keeper. The ball was loose after the save and Mackenzie Geigle was close to slotting the rebound for the goal but the Wolfpack got out of the jam.

Moments later, the Cardinals capitalized on another opportunity in the attacking third.

Morgan Bentley made a great defensive play to get the ball and made a run into the box. She got past a Wolfpack defender and dropped a pass back to Corrine Dente unmarked just outside the six-yard box. She one-timed the pass past the Wolfpack keeper for the first goal of the match. The goal was the second of her career for Dente and her first goal since the 2019 season.

The Cardinals continued to dominate the play in the first half and took the 1-0 lead into the break. Louisville held an 11-3 shot advantage and an 8-0 lead in shots on goal.

In the second half, the Wolfpack had a few chances of their own as they looked to even the contest.
