Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham told to ‘snap up’ soon-to-be out of contract Palace star

Arsenal-linked Zaha

Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have been told that they should be “snapping up” Wilfried Zaha as he enters the final months of his contract.

Zaha has been Crystal Palace’s star player over the past few seasons and he is enjoying a superb start to the 2022/23 campaign.

He has grabbed four goals and an assist in his eight Premier League outings. This is after he netted 14 league goals last term.

The forward’s latest goal came on Tuesday night as he scored the winner for Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park against Wolves.

Zaha’s future at Palace is in doubt as his current contract is due to expire in 2023. But Eagles boss Patrick Vieira is not concerned about Zaha’s situation.

“It’s not an issue at all,” Vieira said.

“Wilfried knows what the club thinks about him and we know what he thinks about the club.

“There will be a discussion taking place but for myself and for the club what is important is for him to play at this level and to be consistent and to help those young players around him to grow and we’ll see what will happen.”

He added: “When Wilfried has a good day I would say the team has a good day.

“He’s an important player on and off the field, he’s got the experience and today he was really good in possession, out of possession, he worked really hard.

“But we want him to have these kinds of performances, to be consistent and to allow us to follow him, and every player has to play at the level that we all know they can do.”

Given his form for Palace, it is inevitable that he is going to be linked with a move elsewhere.

Arsenal and Chelsea were both said to be plotting a £30m move for him in the summer.

Ex-Aston Villa man Gabriel Agbonlahor has now suggested that Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs should all be offering Zaha a three-year deal.

“I don’t think he’s missed the chance now,” Agbonlahor told talkSPORT.

“Last night at the game I found out that his contract runs out next summer, he can go on a free transfer to a top club.

“I mean if you are an Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea, you’re snapping him up on a three-year contract.

“Because last night he was outstanding, even his hunger still.

“He has been playing in the Premier League for so long now, but he showed a lot of hunger last night and there was one part in the second half, where he got the ball and he threw [Daniel] Podence on the floor, then he tackled [Joao] Moutinho and it lifted the crowd.

“It inspired his team to get the winner….
