Barcelona head coach Xavi Hernandez believes his side didnt deserve to lose Sunday’s Clasico where they went down 3-1 to Real Madrid.
Real scored twice in the opening half from Karim Benzema and Federico Valverde to gain control of the clash.
Robert Lewandowski set up Ferran Torres for an 83rd minute reply, but Real sealed the win with Rodrygo’s 91st minute goal.
Barcelona had 57-43 per cent with 547-414 passes, generating 18-8 shots, leaving Xavi frustrated and under some pressure following their UEFA Champions League exit.
“We didnt deserve to lose,” Xavi told reporters. “In the first half we werent bad, but in the second half they dominated us.
“With the changes, we were more aggressive. We have to change the mentality and the dynamic because in order to compete in these matches, you have to be more aggressive.
“We have to compete better. We were against a more mature team that knew how to take advantage of our moments. We are in a bad dynamic and we have to change it.”
The win moves Real into top spot with 25 points, three ahead of the Blaugrana who had only conceded once all season in La Liga prior to that.
Real boss Carlo Ancelotti said: “The first half was the key. We were the better team and were strong and clinical.
“We managed to play out from the back well because they were pressing high up the pitch. We played with confidence, playing out from the back and we were strong up front.
“Everybody was engaged and that was key to winning the game.”
