Second-Ranked Alabama Soccer Remains Undefeated in SEC Play with 2-1 Win over No. 7 Arkansas

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The No. 2 Alabama soccer team (14-1-1, 7-0-0 SEC) captured a come-from-behind 2-1 win over seventh-ranked Arkansas (10-3-1, 5-2-0 SEC) on Sunday, recording the program’s fifth victory against a top-25 team and third against a top-10 foe this season.

How It Happened 

• Arkansas scored the first goal of the game in the 17^th minute of play, after a through ball from Jessica de Filippo made its way to Shana Flynn for a cross into the box and onto the head of Ava Tankersley
• Gessica Skorka found the equalizer for Alabama in the 25^th minute
• The two teams would remain even for the next 58 minutes of action, however a foul on Ashlynn Serepca in the box gave the Tide its go-ahead goal
• Serepca stepped up to the penalty kick spot in the 83^rd minute, placing her shot in the right corner of the net for the game-winning goal

Game Notes 

• Alabama has defeated five ranked teams this season, including three opponents ranked in the top-10 including then-No. 6 BYU, then-No. 5 South Carolina and No. 7 Arkansas
• UA extended its winning streak to a program-record 10 games
• The 10-game winning streak ranks second among NCAA Division I programs for the longest active streak, trailing only Saint Louis who has won 13 straight matches
• Additionally, Alabama captured its 15^th win at home, remaining undefeated at the Alabama Soccer Stadium since the team recorded a 2-0 win against UAB on Sept. 12, 2021
• Ashlynn Serepca captured her fourth game-winning goal to tie Riley Mattingly Parker, who has also tallied four this season, for second all-time in the program’s single-season ranks  
• Serepca’s goal was her fourth overall this season, while Gessica Skorka netted her second goal this year
• McKinley Crone made five saves in the game, capturing her 14^th win and 32^nd overall at Alabama
