Schlegel Records 100th Career Point, No. 25 PSU beats Michigan 3-0

Nebraska

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Redshirt senior Ally Schlegel scored two goals to record her 100th career point in No. 25 Penn State’s 3-0 rout of Michigan during the Nittany Lions’ regular season home finale on Sunday afternoon.

Schlegel scored the first goal of the game in the sixth minute and PSU’s third goal in the 52nd minute. She said it did not occur to her that she achieved 100 career points until she came back to the bench and talked with senior Cori Dyke.

“I was sitting there for a little bit, and I looked at Cori and I went ‘Cori, I think that was my 100th point’, and we went, ‘Wait, that’s awesome’,” Schlegel said. “It was funny because I didn’t recognize it at first, but I feel like it was the perfect goal; not pretty, just kind of one that you’re following up.

“I’m so grateful for this team, this place, these coaches, everybody involved; it’s really cool. This was an awesome game. This just felt so good. We were really prepared coming into this game, and we showed it.”

The Nittany Lions out-shot the Wolverines 19 to 8 and prevented U-M from taking a corner kick.  Redshirt senior Katherine Asman finished with four saves in her ninth clean sheet of the season.

With the win, PSU moves to 10-3-2 overall and 5-2-1 in the Big Ten, while UM drops to 6-7-3 overall and 1-5-2 in the league.

Head coach Erica Dambach said of the win, “We had our whole family back together. It was a gorgeous day in Happy Valley in mid-October, and the crowd was fantastic. The shut out is huge.”
