With a decision day on the horizon and a playoff ticket on the line, several clubs are still competing to make top seven in their conference. There’s just one week left before the 2022 Major League Soccer season comes to a close, and players are not slowing down.

In the West, Carlos Vela scored a stunning goal to secure LAFC’s second Supporters’ Shield since their inaugural season in 2019. Josef Martinez led in the East, managing a bicycle kick goal to close out the season.

Here’s everything you missed on goals of the week.

To kick off, we have Frankie Amaya with a right-footed shot from just outside the box. It was his first goal of the season, after managing four assists in 23 appearances.

Despite the ultimate 1-2 defeat to the Columbus Crew, his efforts this season have propelled the Red Bulls to fourth on the Eastern Conference table and a postseason slot.

The Canadian figure was at it again vs. Austin FC, scoring the second goal of the game before propelling the Vancouver Whitecaps to the 2-0 victory over the Western Conference giants.

The goal stands as Cavallini’s ninth overall this season, tripling his 2021 numbers with one game left to be played. Though the Canadian team is unlikely to book a spot in the playoffs, it was a solid effort by the Whitecaps.

Duran’s efforts in the second half against FC Cincinnati gave fans something to cheer about after failing to qualify for the postseason once again. He took advantage of goalkeeper Roman Celentano’s odd placement to bounce the ball over him and into the back of the net.

The Chicago figure has recorded eight goals and three assists this season, gaining international attention.

For the Supporters’ Shield win. It just had to be Carlos Vela.
