NC State Travels to No. 17 Notre Dame on Thursday


RALEIGH – The NC State women’s soccer team (7-3-3, 2-2-0 ACC) continues its three-game road trip at No. 17 Notre Dame (9-2-0, 2-2-0) Thursday night. Thursday night’s match is set for 8 p.m. ET in South Bend, Indiana.
 
The Pack’s match against the Fighting Irish will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra. Live stats will also be available via StatBroadcast.
 
LAST TIME OUT
NC State bounced back on Thursday following a pair of home defeats in conference play, earning a 2-1 comeback victory at Clemson. After allowing the opening goal in the ninth minute, Leyah Hall-Robinson tied the match in the 38th minute off a designed play on a corner kick. Jameese Joseph then secured the road victory with her fourth game-winning goal of the season, firing home the Pack’s second goal in the 74th minute. The Pack has now battled back to earn three victories in six tries in games it allows the opening goal.
 
SERIES HISTORY
Notre Dame leads the all-time series history 7-3, but the Wolfpack has won two of the past four matchups dating back to Oct. 29, 2017. NC State has earned all three of its victories at home, falling by just a single goal in two of its four road defeats. In the Pack’s most recent win over the Fighting Irish on Oct. 27, 2019, NC State shut out Notre Dame 3-0 behind goals from Ricci Walkling, Jameese Joseph and Tziarra King.
 
SCOUTING THE FIGHTING IRISH
After finishing nonconference play with a perfect 7-0 record, Notre Dame dropped two of its first three matchups in ACC play in a pair of two-goal defeats to Clemson and Pittsburgh. The Fighting Irish got back in the win column this past Thursday with a 3-0 road win at Boston College. Olivia Wingate and Maddie Mercado pace the Fighting Irish with seven goals apiece.
 
COMEBACK PACK
The Comeback Pack. NC State rallied once again on Thursday after going behind first, marking its third comeback win this season. The Wolfpack also has a flair for the dramatic, scoring in the final 15 minutes of games five times. NC State is undefeated (4-0-1) in games it nets a goal in the final 15 minutes.
