October 4, 2022 – United Soccer League Championship (USL)San Antonio FC News Release

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio FC defender Carter Manley has been named to the USL Championship Team of the Week, the league announced today.

Manley scored the lone goal in Saturday’s 1-0 road win at Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC on Saturday, redirecting a cross from Nicky Hernandez in the 86th minute to secure the 1-0 win.

Defensively, Manley was part of the team’s 17th shutout of the season, and fifth in the last six matches, moving into a tie for the single-season league record.

The goal was the team’s ninth from a defender this season, and Manley’s first in USL Championship play. Manley tallied the winning score against Austin FC in April’s 2-1 win over the MLS side in the US Open Cup.

The honor is the first time this season Manley has made the Team of the Week, and the 28th time an SAFC player has cracked the list. Manley is the 10th different player to land on the weekly list, and marks the 13th time a defender has made the list.

Manley and San Antonio FC are on the road this weekend, heading to Alabama to take on Birmingham Legion FC on Sunday at 4:00p.m. CT. The match, which is the team’s final road match in 2022, will be broadcast on ESPN+.
