Howard Collects Big Ten Freshman of the Week Honors

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Following her three-point performance on the week, freshman Rylee Howard of the Wisconsin women’s soccer team has been named the Big Ten Rookie of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday.

Howard, who picks up her first career honor from the Big Ten, assisted the Badgers to extend their win streak to eight games, scoring against Maryland before assisting on the game-winning goal vs. Minnesota. With the victories, the Badgers improved to 5-0 in conference play and remained atop the leader board in the conference standings.

The rookie scored her second goal of the season in the 54th minute against Maryland last Thursday, which tied the game, and gave the Badgers all the momentum as part of a 2-1 comeback win. The Wildwood, Missouri native followed by assisting on the game-winning goal in the 87th minute against Minnesota, completing another 2-1 comeback victory.

Howard and Wisconsin will next visit Northwestern on Friday, Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. for a matchup between two of top teams in the Big Ten.
