Thomas Muller and Joshua Kimmich have both tested positive for Covid-19 and are isolating from the rest of the Bayern Munich squad.
The pair were both involved in Bayern‘s 4-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen as Muller grabbed a goal alongside further strikes from Leroy Sane, Jamal Musiala and Sadio Mane.
The German champions revealed Muller and Kimmich tested positive on Saturday and are at home with no symptoms. Their positive tests come after Manuel Neuer and Leon Goretzka were also struck down with infections last week – they have since returned to the squad.
Muller and Kimmich are now doubts for Bayern’s return to the Champions League on Tuesday, when they host Viktoria Plzen looking for their third win of the group stage.
Kimmich was previously criticised due to his reluctance to get vaccinated against coronavirus but revealed in December last year he regretted not getting jabbed after suffering a lung problem as a result of the illness.
