Lema Scores Late To Lift Bears

Washington State

TUCSON, ARIZONA – Karlie Lema scored the game-winning goal in the 86th minute as the Cal women’s soccer team finished a three-game road trip with a 1-0 victory over Arizona on a scorching hot afternoon at Mulcahy Soccer Stadium.

The goal was Lema’s third of the season and followed a similar script to last year’s game vs. Arizona as Lema scored the game-winning goal in overtime as the Bears won, 1-0, in Berkeley during the 2021 season.

The goal was a culmination of a hard-fought game in the heat of the Arizona desert after the game kicked off at noon.

The Bears also recorded their sixth shutout of the season as they held Arizona scoreless. Angelina Anderson made one save en route to earning her 24th career shutout, tied for second-most in school history with Cal Hall of Famer Maite Zabala.
