No. 14 Women’s Soccer Shuts Out Louisville

North Carolina

PITTSBURGH – The No. 14-ranked Pitt women’s soccer team (11-1-0, 4-0-0 ACC) battled through rainy conditions and shut out Louisville (4-4-2, 1-3-0 ACC), 1-0, Saturday at Ambrose Urbanic Field. The Panthers ran their winning streak to five in a row and have opened ACC play with four wins in four tries for the first time in program history.

Pitt, which has won its first four ACC games for the first time in program history, dominated possession with a 63% rate as opposed to just 37% for the Cardinals. The Panthers held a decisive edge in shots at 14-6.

“Really happy about the performance in difficult playing conditions,” head coach Randy Waldrum said. “It was great to get another goal off a set piece. I’m happy for Samiah. She’s been so good for us in creating chances for others, so glad she got one herself tonight.”

The first half of the game was played in torrential rain, with the Panthers logging four shots with none coming on goal.
