Alf-Inge Haaland has revealed that he does not expect his son to stay at Manchester City for more than four years.

The Norweigan striker joined the Premier League champions from Borussia Dortmund for £51million this summer.

After scoring 86 goals in 89 games for the German outfit, his release clause has been widely regarded as a bargain price.

It was expected to be one of the longest transfer sagas of the summer, however, Haaland agreed to join City before the window officially opened.

Life in England has been all sunshine and rainbows so far for the 22-year-old, who has netted 14 times in his first ten appearances under Pep Guardiola.

It was reported this week that Real Madrid are plotting a double swoop of Haaland and his City teammate, Joao Cancelo.

There have been rumours that the former Dortmund striker will not be at the Etihad for the long haul.

Replacing Karim Benzema as Madrid’s No.9 would be possible in 2024, and leaving City to move to the Spanish capital in two years’ time could be ideal for him.

After two seasons at City, Haaland will reportedly have a release clause worth 180million euros, and it is believed that Los Blancos will be willing to pay that fee.

This seems to be written in the stars, with the player’s father, Alf-Inge, revealing that his son will probably only be at the Etihad for “three or four years at the most”.

“I think Erling wants to prove his abilities in all leagues,” Haaland Sr. said in the documentary, Haaland: The Big Decision.

“Then he can stay there [Manchester City] for three or four years at the most.

“He could be, for example, two-and-a-half years in Germany, two-and-a-half years in England and then in Spain, Italy, France, right?”

A move to Spain would likely involve Madrid or Barcelona, while you would expect Paris Saint-Germain to be the only French club able to sign Haaland.

In the documentary, Alf-Inge admitted that City were the striker’s top choice.

“On our list, I think City is the best team,” he said. “[Bayern] Munich is number two. We have Real Madrid as number three, Paris Saint-Germain as number four.

“We also have some English teams other than City who are quite good. Liverpool and Chelsea. Also, there is Barcelona. They are sort of in the same row.”
