Syracuse (8-3-0, 1-2-0) has its first ACC road match of the season when it plays at Wake Forest (7-2-2, 1-2-0) on Sunday, Oct. 2, at Spry Stadium. 

The Syracuse-Wake Forest Series:

Wake Forest has a 6-2-1 lead in the all-time series with the Orange. The Demon Deacons won last year’s pairing, 2-0.

Syracuse seeks its first-ever triumph in Winston-Salem. Wake Forest has captured three of the four encounters and the other contest resulted in a tie.

Syracuse Status:

The Orange claimed their first ACC triumph of the fall by defeating Miami, 3-1, last Sunday. The victory gave Syracuse an eight-win season for the first time since 2016.

Graduate student Chelsea Domond, who contributed a goal and two assists against the Hurricanes, has a squad-leading five goals and five assists. Redshirt sophomore Erin Flurey has four goals and one assist, and a team-best 21 shots.

Freshman Shea Vanderbosch leads ACC goalkeepers in save percentage (.864). She has a 7-2 record and a 0.67 goals-against average.

Wake Forest Status:

The Demon Deacons have already logged an impressive, 4-1 victory against then-#14 Clemson on Sept. 22. Wake Forest’s two losses have come to conference rivals NC State (2-1) and Virginia Tech (2-0).

Redshirt junior Kaitlyn Parks has started all 11 of Wake Forest’s matches. She has a 0.57 goals-against-average and an .800 save percentage.

Junior Olivia Stowell and freshman Alex Wood each have four goals for the Demon Deacons.

Notable Notes:

  • Graduate student Jenna Tivnan leads the Orange with 59 career starts.
  • Sophomore Koby Commandant has made 28 straight appearances with the starting lineup.
  • Freshman Grace Gillard leads Syracuse in minutes-played average (87.5).
  • The ACC has four of the top seven teams and six of the top 16 in the Sept. 27 United Soccer Coaches Poll.
