Women’s Soccer Enters United Soccer Coaches Rankings at No. 14

PITTSBURGH – The Pitt women’s soccer team (10-1-0, 3-0-0 ACC) is ranked No. 14 in the country, per the latest United Soccer Coaches Rankings.

This marks the third-straight year the Panthers have appeared in the weekly poll. Pitt reached as high as No. 19 in the poll last season and No. 12 in 2020. After going 9-22-4 in the first two years of a massive rebuild, Pitt has gone 32-15 over the last two-plus seasons.

Pitt is off to its best start in program history and has matched the 2015 squad for the best start to ACC play in program history. The Panthers’ early season surge was highlighted by Sunday’s 3-1 road win at then-No. 17 Notre Dame, with the victory marking the first time Pitt defeated the Fighting Irish in 17 tries.

The Panthers enter the week having scored the second-most goals in the country with 39 and boast the second-highest scoring offense in the nation with 3.55 goals per game. Pitt is led by senior forward Leah Pais, who has scored all seven of her team-leading goals over the last six games. The Panthers feature a balanced scoring attack, with 13 different players finding the back of the net so far this season.

Pitt returns to the friendly confines of Ambrose Urbanic Field next Saturday for a 7 p.m. clash against Louisville (4-3-2, 1-2-0 ACC). The contest will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra.
