NC State

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The 15th-ranked University of Louisville men’s soccer team played to a 1-1 draw against UNC Greensboro on Tuesday night at Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium.

The draw extends the unbeaten streak for Louisville (5-2-2) to four. UNCG was the first team receiving votes in the most recent top 25 poll, marking the fifth match this season for the Cards against a team in the poll or receiving votes.

For the sixth consecutive match, the Cardinals were the first ones on the scoreboard, scoring in the 13th minute. Bradley Sample played to Macoumba Ba at the top of the box and Ba beat the defender before slotting home a shot with the left foot.

The goal was the third of the season for Ba, but his first since scoring in the first two matches of the season.

UNC Greensboro (5-1-3) equalized 20 minutes later, putting one in the net in the 33rd minute to tie it up.

The match went to the half level at one with just seven total shots on the board.

Both sides exchanged dangerous chances in the second half, as the Cards fired six shots at the net to four for the Spartans.

Eric Danquah fired a shot just high in the 76th minute and Ugochukwu Achara narrowly missed the right post one minute later.

The Cardinals had one final chance in the closing seconds of the match. A long pass got behind the defense, but Konstantinos Georgallides’ shot at the horn sailed over the crossbar.
