Miami FC Draws Against Monterey Bay

Miami, Fla. – The Miami Football Club and Monterey Bay FC drew 0-0 on Saturday at FIU Stadium. As a result, Miami FC’s seven-game undefeated streak remains alive.

Starting XI vs. Monterey Bay FC

Head Coach Anthony Pulis made one change to his Starting XI ahead of the game. Christian Sorto was introduced to the lineup for Joaquín Rivas, who is currently on international duty with El Salvador.


Miami FC 0-0 Monterey Bay FC: Match Breakdown

The Orange and Blue dominated possession from the start. Salvadoran internationals Josh Pérez and Sorto combined for Miami’s first clear chance of the game in the 18th minute.

Sorto delivered a lobbed ball into the box and Pérez brought it down with his chest. He produced a shot shortly after, but Union goalkeeper Antony Siaha made a save.

Miami continued exposing Monterey from wide positions but failed to find open forwards inside the box. Left-back Aedan Stanley struck a free kick on target just before halftime.

Miami FC continued attacking early in the second half. Stanley served a cross to attacking midfielder Florian Valot, who met the ball with his head. however, the attempt went wide.

Reggae Boy Lamar Walker was subbed on in the 69th minute and made his presence known moments later. The 21-year-old produced a shot from a tight angle after multiple stepovers.

Goalkeeper Jake McGuire, who had not been tested all game, produced a double save in the 77th minute. McGuire blocked a shot, shifted on his line and caught a second right after.

Despite holding 66% possession, Miami FC was not able to score a winner.

Up Next for Miami FC

Miami FC will take on second-place Memphis 901 on Saturday, Oct. 1. The fixture will be Miami’s last home game of the season.
