CLEMSON, S.C. – The #14 Clemson women’s soccer team travels to Winston-Salem to take on the Wake Forest Demon Deacons at Dennie Spry Soccer Stadium on Thursday, Sept. 22. The match is set to kick off at 8 p.m. and will be broadcasted on ACC Network.
This marks the 31st time that the Tigers and Demon Deacons will meet, with Clemson leading the series, 16-10-4. Most recently Clemson defeated Wake Forest 2-0 at Historic Riggs Field in 2020. Junior forward Liv Stowell and freshman forward Alex Wood lead the Demon Deacons with eight and seven points, respectively.
Most recently the Tigers upset then No. 6 Notre Dame 2-0 at Historic Riggs Field, recording the highest ranked home win since beating No. 5 Virginia on Sept. 20, 2018. Harper White was pivotal in the victory as she registered a career-high two assists which culminated in ACC Defensive Player of the Week and College Soccer News National Team of the Week honors. Sami Meredith registered her first goal of the season while Emily Brough netted her third goal in her first career start. Junior keeper Halle Mackiewicz registered a season-high six saves in the win.
The previous week Clemson impressed by beating then No. 17 West Virginia at Dick Dlesk Stadium in Morgantown, W. Va., 1-0. Mackiewicz was vital in the win as she registered four saves, one of which was a game-saving stop off a penalty kick in the 66th minute.
