Penn State vs. No. 9 Maryland Ends in 3-3 Draw

COLLEGE PARK, Md.– A tough conference match for Penn State against No. 9 Marlyand ends in a 3-3 draw. The Nittany Lions record is now 3-2-3.
 
FIRST HALF
The Nittany Lions had two corner kick opportunities early on in the first half but came up just shy of a goal. Maryland struck first just over 15 minutes into the game when Nick Richardson sent the ball into the net. 
 
Three minutes later, Penn State responded with a goal of its own. The fourth corner kick of the game for the Nittany Lions set them up for another chance to score. Seth Kuhn passed the ball to Sean Bettenhausen who lifted the ball in the air to defender Femi Awodesu in the box. Awodesu headed the ball into the goal, hitting the cross bar but notching the point. 
 
The Penn State offense was not finished in the first half. Peter Mangione struck in the 27th minute, sending the ball to the top right corner of the goal off a pass from Tyger Evans.
 
The Nittany Lions led 2-1 going into the half.
 
SECOND HALF
The Terps came out of the break hot, scoring a goal five minutes in off a penalty kick to even the score at 2-2. 
 
Another penalty opportunity, in the reverse, for Penn State secured the equalizer in the game. The Maryland goalkeeper fouled Tyger Evans inside the box to set up the second penalty kick of the game. Evans struck the ball to the left corner of the net to score the sixth goal of the game. 
 
Evans drove a counterattack off a Maryland corner, looking for the game-winner. Terps keeper, Jamie Lowell made a diving save to maintain the tie score. 

The game ended with a Penn State scoring chance in the final seconds but a header shot…
