FSU’s Echegini, Clemson’s White Earn ACC Women’s Soccer Player of Week Honors


GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Florida State senior forward Onyi Echegini was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while Clemson senior defender Harper White earned ACC Defensive Player of the Week honors.
 
A native of London, England, Echegini scored her first career hat trick with three goals against Boston College in FSU’s 6-0 road win over the Eagles. It marked the first hat trick for a Seminole since the 2017 season. Echegini now has a team-leading five goals on the season.
 
White started and played all 90 minutes at center back as Clemson recorded a clean sheet in a 2-0 home win over No. 6 Notre Dame on Thursday, handing the Fighting Irish their first loss and shutout of the season. The native of Franklin, Tennessee, also recorded assists on both of Clemson’s goals. The win marked Clemson’s highest ranked home win since Sept. 20, 2018.
 
League play continues this week with the first weekend of two play dates, with seven matches slated for both Thursday and Sunday. ACC Network features a doubleheader on Thursday, with Miami at Pitt at 6 p.m. and No. 7 Virginia at No. 6 Notre Dame at 8 p.m. ACCN also has a doubleheader on Sunday, with Virginia Tech at Wake Forest at 5 p.m. and No. 3 Duke at Wake Forest at 7 p.m.
