Demon Deacons Set to Face NC State Sunday Night


WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The Wake Forest women’s soccer team will conclude a five-match road swing Sunday night when the Demon Deacons square off with ‘Big Four’ and Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) opponent NC State under the lights at Dail Soccer Field.
 
Kick-off is slated for 7 p.m. and the match will be broadcast on ACC Network.
 
The Matchup

  • Wake Forest will open ACC play when it travels to Raleigh to face ‘Big Four’ opponent NC State Sunday.
  •  The Demon Deacons remain unbeaten after two solid performances last weekend. Goalkeeper Kaitlyn Parks refused to allow a goal in both contests, bringing her career shutout total to 19. This season, the Deacs have scored 16 goals, while conceding just one.
  • Wake Forest finished 25th in the RPI rankings last season.

 
Last Time Out

  • The Demon Deacons earned a hard fought, 0-0 draw in Baltimore last weekend against Loyola Maryland.
  • It was a very even match throughout, as the total shots ended 8-9 (4-4 on goal) and corners 4-5, both Loyola Maryland’s favor.
  • Redshirt junior goalkeeper Kaitlyn Parks grabbed her 19th career clean sheet in her 36th career start. After an uneventful first half, the Maryland native stopped four shots in the second half to keep the game level.

 
Scouting the Wolfpack

  • For the fifth straight week, TopDrawerSoccer ranked NC State (No. 20) in its latest Top 25.
  • NC State is 5-1-3 this season with its lone loss coming to Harvard on Sept. 4.
  • The Wolfpack earned a 3-1 victory over in-state foe High Point on Thursday. The Pack was led by Jameese Joseph who registered nine shots, four shots on goal and tied with Brooklyn Holt with three points on the night.
  • NC State has allowed only one goal in its past three matches. On Sept. 11 the Wolfpack battled to a scoreless draw with then No. 4 South Carolina.

 
Series History

  • The Demon Deacons hold a 19-7-2 series record against NC State.
  • Wake Forest has only dropped two of the last 23 meetings dating back to 1998, after dropping the first five contests.
  • The Deacs have a 9-4-1 record over NC State playing as visitors, and have not conceded a goal there since 2016.
