Earthquakes Face Colorado Rapids Tonight

Earthquakes Weekly Update: June 6, 2022

September 14, 2022 – Major League Soccer (MLS)San Jose Earthquakes News Release

SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes (7-13-9; 30 pts.) will face the Colorado Rapids (9-12-12; 36 pts.) at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colo. tonight at 7 p.m. PT. The match will be broadcast live on NBC Sports Bay Area, KNBR 1050 (English) and 1370 KZSF (Spanish).

Tonight’s match is San Jose’s penultimate road match of the 2022 season and last before Decision Day in Seattle. The club will look to erase memories of last Saturday’s defeat in Cincinnati before returning to San Jose for three straight home matches.

Colorado has proved to be a difficult place for the Earthquakes to prevail, with the team’s last win coming in 2013 (0-5-5 since). DSG Park is approximately 5,200 feet above sea level, the highest elevation in MLS.

The Rapids hold a strong 8-2-5 record at home, tied for the second-best home record in the Western Conference. Colorado defeated Vancouver 3-1 last Saturday to extend their home unbeaten streak to six (3-0-3). The club is led by Chilean forward Diego Rubio, who paces the team in both goals (13) and assists (7). Rubio is one of just five players in MLS with 13+ goals and 7+ assists, joining MVP candidates Hany Mukhtar (NSH), Sebastian Driussi (ATX), Daniel Gazdag (PHI), and Julian Carranza (PHI).

The Earthquakes defeated the Rapids 1-0 at PayPal Park in their only prior meeting this season.
