COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State returns home to close out non-conference play on Sunday evening against in-state foe Kent State. The match is set for a 6 p.m. kickoff and will be streamed on BTN+. Sunday will also be Senior Day as the program will recognize its eight seniors prior to the match.

Admission and parking are free for all Ohio State women’s soccer matches.

  • Sunday’s match will be the seventh all-time meeting between the two in-state rivals. Ohio State leads the series 5-0-1 and won the most recent meeting 3-0 on Aug. 19, 2016 in Columbus. The Buckeyes have outscored the Golden Flashes 15-1 in the previous six meetings.
  • Sunday will also be Senior Day as the program will recognize Talani Barnett, Kayla Fischer, Kitty Jones-Black, Maddy Lowe, Katherine Robinson, Emma Sears, Olivia Sensky and Emaly Vatne prior to the match.
  • The Buckeyes had a pair of shutouts last week and then promptly surrendered a goal in the fourth minute on Thursday night at Brown. But they would rally for a 3-2 victory behind goals from Sydney Jones, Emma Sears and Kailyn Dudukovich.
  • After being ranked No. 22 in the first ranking of the year, the Buckeyes fell out of the rankings in week two and are now back at No. 22 in the third ranking.
  • The Buckeyes are a perfect 4-0-0 in road matches.
  • Kent State has had a tough start to the season. The Golden Flashes drew Cleveland State in their opener but has since lost four of five with the other match being a scoreless tie at Loyola.
  • Senior captain Talani Barnett was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week after leading the Buckeye defense to a pair of shutouts. The two opponents only registered three shots on goal for the week. She is the first Buckeye to be named B1G Defensive Player of the Week since 2018.
  • Emma Sears has three goals and an assist in the last three matches. She had a goal and an assist in the win at Brown on Thursday. She leads the team with 10 points on the year.
  • Sophomores Sydney Jones and Kailyn Dudukovich each scored their first goals of the season on Thursday vs. Brown.
  • Ohio State head coach Lori Walker-Hock is in her 26th season leading the program. She is 275-189-55 as the Buckeyes’ head coach and has won a pair of Big Ten…
