No. 18 Alabama Soccer Returns Home To Host North Alabama


TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The No. 18 Alabama soccer (5-1-1) returns home Sunday to host North Alabama at 5 p.m. CT at the Alabama Soccer Stadium.

Turning Heads

  • The Crimson Tide enters the match ranked 18th in the latest United Soccer Coaches Poll
  • The ranking is the best in program history outside of the 2020-21 season in which UA ranked No. 15
  • The team is coming off a trip to Utah where UA played three games over a six-day span
  • The trip was highlighted by one of the best games in program history with Alabama taking a 3-2 win over No. 6 BYU
  • Alabama also defeated Utah Valley 4-1 in addition to earning a 1-1 tie against Utah

On a Roll

  • The Crimson Tide captured back-to-back wins against top-25 opponents, defeating then-No. 18 Clemson and then-No. 6 BYU
  • UA downed No. 6 BYU on the road on Sept. 1, defeating the Cougars 3-2, after taking a 3-0 victory at home against then-No. 18 Clemson on Aug. 28
  • Alabama’s victory over BYU was the team’s first win against a top-10 team since it topped No. 5 Texas A&M at home in 2018
  • Prior to Thursday’s game, BYU had lost just four home games in the last five years and two in the last three years
  • Alabama also recorded its third shutout of the year against the Tigers, holding Florida Atlantic, Southern Miss and Clemson without a goal this season
  • Riley Mattingly Parker notched a pair of goals to lift the Tide to victory against the Tigers, in addition to netting the first goal against BYU
  • Gianna Paul scored her first collegiate goal against Clemson before recording her first game-winning goal against BYU
  • Reyna Reyes scored the tying goal in the team’s draw against Utah and the game-winning goal against Utah Valley scoring both goals off a corner kick

The Team

  • Riley Mattingly Parker earned her second consecutive Southeastern Conference Player of the Week honor following the team’s upset win over then-No. 6 BYU
  • Parker scored the team’s first goal against BYU, tying the game at 1-1
  • The UA captain also added an assist to the game, sending a ball behind the back line to Gianna Paul for the game-winning goal
  • Paul was named the SEC Freshman of the Week…
