NC State Concludes Road Trip at No. 4 South Carolina

RALEIGH – The No. 19 NC State women’s soccer team (4-1-2) concludes its first weeklong road trip at No. 4 South Carolina on Sunday afternoon.

Sunday’s match in Columbia, South Carolina, is set for 3 p.m. and will be broadcasted live on ESPNU. Live stats will also be available via StatBroadcast.

LAST TIME OUT
The Wolfpack earned a scoreless draw at Nebraska on Thursday, making it six matches out of seven unbeaten to open the 2022 season. NC State fired the first three shots of the second half, almost taking the lead when Annika Wohner’s far-post effort sailed just wide of the goal. Maria Echezarreta made a pair of saves in the final 10 minutes to record her third shutout of the season and the 11th of her Wolfpack career.

SERIES HISTORY
Sunday’s match will mark the 10th all-time meeting between the two teams, including the fifth matchup in the series since 2016. South Carolina leads the series 7-2. NC State’s sole road victory in the series came in a 1-0 win in 2000, which is one season before Gamecock head coach Shelley Smith took over the program.

SCOUTING THE GAMECOCKS
South Carolina (5-0-2) is one of 39 unbeaten teams remaining in Division I and just one of 18 of those teams with five wins or more. The Gamecocks are 1-0-2 against ACC opponents this season, drawing Florida State and Clemson before earning a 2-1 win at Virginia Tech on Thursday. Catherine Barry paces the Gamecocks with three goals, 29 shots and 13 shots on goal.
