Western Michigan Takes Down Northwestern, 3-0

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern fell 3-0 at home to Western Michigan on Friday (Sept. 9) at Lanny and Sharon Martin Stadium.

The setback dropped Northwestern’s record to 0-3-2 overall.

“There’s a lot of goodness and there’s a lot of quality in our team and in our locker room. Reconnecting with that is very important for us and we will,” Head Coach Russell Payne said postgame. “We have very high standards and expectations for ourselves and this program, and we’re going to climb and recommit to our process.”

How it Happened

After the Broncos took a 3-0 lead into halftime, Northwestern kept Western Michigan scoreless the remainder of the game. Christian Garner led Northwestern with six saves. The Wildcats recorded six shots in the loss, four of them on goal. Northwestern faced 23 Western Michigan shots, nine of them on goal.
