Female – Emily Jozak, Women’s Soccer

Hometown: Wayne, N.J.

Freshman forward Emily Jozak not only scored her first career goal as a Great Dane in women’s soccer’s first victory of the season, 3-1 over Rider, she scored her first three.  Jozak’s hat trick was just the fourth in UAlbany’s Division I era, matching the efforts, as well as the single game program record three goals and six points, from all-time leading scorer Mariah Williams from her 2017 match against Maine, and Shayla Bergeron twice during the 2012 season.

Male – AJ Simon, Football

Hometown: Tobyhanna, Pa.

A junior, AJ Simon shined in his first contest as a Great Dane. A Division II transfer from Bloomsburg University, he sat atop the depth chart ahead of UAlbany’s opening game against Baylor University. Taking full control of his opportunities, Simon tallied two solo sacks for a loss of six yards at Baylor.
