COLLEGE PARK, MD. –  The University of Maryland women’s soccer team will continue their non-conference homestand this week as they host No. 24 Wake Forest and Saint Joseph’s at Ludwig Field. The Terps will take on the undefeated Demon Deacons on Thursday (9/8) at 7 pm; Sunday afternoon’s matchup against Saint Joseph’s will be senior day in which we will recognize our seniors prior to the 1 pm kick off. Both matches will be streamed on BTN +.

  • Maryland holds a 10-13-2 overall record with the Demon Deacons. The two teams last met in the 2021 season as the Terps fell by a score of 2-0 in Winston Salem.    
  • The Terps and the Hawks have only met once before which resulted in a 0-0 tie at Sweeney field in the 2021 season.

  • The Terps notched their first win of the season on Sunday with a dominant 3-0 win over George Mason. This win marks head coach Meghan Ryan Nemzer‘s first win as a head coach at Maryland. 
  • Maryland picked up their fourth 1-1 come from behind draw on Thursday night against #17 Georgetown.

  • Halle Johnson recorded her first two starts in a Maryland uniform on Thursday and Sunday. 
  • Tahirah Turnage made her college debut on Sunday against George Mason logging 57 minutes for the Terps.
  • Six of the seven goals scored so far this season have been scored by Maryland newcomers

a New Era

  • Coach Meghan Ryan Nemzer continues her first season at the helm of the Maryland women’s soccer program. Coach Nemzer comes to Maryland after spending the previous 14 seasons on the coaching staff at Rutgers. 
  • Katie Ely and Alex Ng will also be joining the Maryland staff this season. Ely has spent the previous seven seasons on the women’s soccer staff at the University of Georgia, while Ng comes to Maryland after spending the past two seasons on the University of Richmond women’s soccer staff.
  • Coach Nemzer has also added Kenie Wright to the staff along with Justine Stoner. Wright will serve as the Director of Player Development, the first in the program’s history, while Stoner will fill…
