“We are excited to get on the road and spend some time together,” head coach James Armstrong said. “Southern Miss will prove an exciting challenge for us tomorrow.”

Thursday’s meeting will be the 13th overall, with State holding the series lead, 8-2-2. It will be the first meeting between the programs since 2018 where MSU won, 3-0.

Southern Miss enters Thursday after having most-recently lost to fellow SEC West opponent, LSU, 3-1. MSU, meanwhile, is gearing up for its second road trip of the season. State went 3-0-1 in its two-week homestand and enters Thursday unbeaten through its first six games.
