Badgers Return Home to Host Milwaukee, Northern Illinois


MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin women’s soccer will return to McClimon Field this week as it closes out its non-conference schedule against in-state rival Milwaukee and Northern Illinois.

The Badgers will clash against the Panthers on Thursday, Sept. 8 at 7 p.m. and follow with a 4 p.m. matchup against the Huskies as part of a doubleheader with the men’s team on Monday, Sept. 12.

FIVE THINGS TO KNOW

1. LAST TIME OUT: Wisconsin scored twice in the first half as it blanked Butler, 2-0, on Sunday. Natalie Viggiano netted her first goal of the season in the ninth minute, while Emma Jaskaniec added another score on a penalty kick in the 25th minute,

2. LOCKING IN: Erin McKinney leads the Big Ten in shutouts (4) and ranks second in saves per game (5.5). McKinney, who transferred from Akron after the 2018 season, has played every minute in net this season.

3. STAYING HOT: Jaskaniec scored in both of Wisconsin’s games last week, brining her goal total to four on the season, and additionally extended her point streak to five games. She is in a five-way tie for second on the Big Ten leaderboard in goals and ranks ninth overall in points (9).

4. SPLITTING HALVES: Five of the nine Badgers’ goals this season have come in the second half, while three of its four first-half goals have been game-winners.

5. BIG TEN ON DECK: Wisconsin will open up its Big Ten schedule next week, starting with Iowa on Friday, Sept. 16.
