McLaughlin Named B1G Defensive POW – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Keagan McLaughlin, a senior from Zanesville, Ohio, was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week by the league office Tuesday after recording a pair of shutouts last week in a pair of Ohio State wins over intrastate foes.

McLaughlin has posted three-consecutive shutout games and has not allowed a goal since the season opener vs. South Carolina in a 1-all draw, a span of 309 minutes.

The Buckeyes (3-0-1) knocked off Bowling Green 1-0 on the road last week. McLaughlin kept the game scoreless in the first half by stopping a Falcon penalty shot. Against Wright State Monday in Columbus, Ohio State came away with a 2-0 win in which McLaughlin recorded four of eight saves made last week.

The transfer from Notre Dame now has 13 career saves, including three as a Buckeyes.

Ohio State has earned a conference honor in each of the last two weeks. Junior captain Laurence Wootton was the Big Ten’s offensive honoree last week.

The Buckeyes are back in action at 7 p.m. Friday against Butler (3-0-0) at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
