Ten Hag could be ‘another casualty’ of ‘all that goes around Man Utd’ as pundit doubts manager

Simon Jordan has once again questioned Erik ten Hag as he thinks the Dutchman could be “another casualty” of “all that goes around Man Utd”.

United’s prospects for this season look a bit more promising after they won their fourth Premier League game of the new campaign.

Few would have seen this coming after they lost in a concerning fashion against Brighton and Brentford in their first two games.

But victories over Liverpool, Southampton and Leicester City were followed up with a 3-1 win at home against Arsenal on Sunday afternoon. 

United’s performance was not the best, but they are certainly more pragmatic than they were last season.

This result leaves them just three points adrift of league leaders Arsenal, who were had won all of their games before facing Man Utd.

Ten Hag has clearly improved United but he has been on the end of some criticism from Jordan in recent weeks.

The ex-Crystal Palace owner usually speaks a bit more sense than his talkSPORT colleagues. But his take on Ten Hag’s ability to wear a suit was a weird one.

Following United’s win over Arsenal, Jordan has now suggested that Ten hag has “got to win something” to be able to label his spell at Man Utd a success:

“Ten Hag is beginning to find his way around the landscape, he’s beginning to get a group of players around him that he feels that are representative of him,” Jordan told talkSPORT.

“But whether he feels Manchester United’s signing policy of Casemiro or paying top dollar for Antony is good business or not, whether we think the Glazers are the worst owners that God ever put breath into, Ten Hag has still got many steps to go to achieve what I think Man United should be achieving, which is winning things.

“Not [just] being competitive, being competitive is a basic fundamental assessment made of even the Man United side in the 70s. So in 2022, when they’ve been the poster boys for the Premier League for a significant period of time, my belief is that Man United have got to win something.

“And I think they’re going to be a long way away from that, and whether he’s a casualty, another casualty of all that goes around Man United — all that orbits it, the awful Glazers and how players shrink when they play for Man United — remains to be seen.”
