Cards Head to Kentucky for First Road Match


LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville men’s soccer team heads on the road for the first time in 2022 as the Cardinals head down to Lexington to take on Kentucky on Tuesday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET and will be televised on ESPN+.
 
ABOUT THE CARDINALS
Louisville is off to a perfect 3-0-0 start after defeating Seattle 2-1 on Friday. Trailing 1-0, Konstantinos Georgallides netted the tying goal in the 70th minute and Brandon McManus found the game-winner seven minutes later.
 
The Cardinals have won their first three matches for the first time since the 2017 season. Louisville is looking to win its first four matches for the first time since 1998.
 
SERIES HISTORY
Louisville trails the all-time series against Kentucky 15-17-5 in a series that goes back to 1979, but the Cardinals are 8-14-5 against the Wildcats since UK became a varsity program in 1991. The Cardinals have lost the last two meetings by a 3-1 margin.
 
CARDS SHOWING RESILIENCY EARLY IN SEASON
Despite starting the season 3-0-0, Louisville has fallen behind in two of its first three matches. Saint Louis netted the first goal in the season opener and Seattle struck first in the most recent contest.
 
However, the Cards have responded strongly in both matches, scoring three unanswered goals against SLU and two straight versus Seattle to secure victories.
 
The Cardinals were just 1-5-0 when the opposition scored the first goal during the 2021 season and have already surpassed that win total just three matches into the 2022 campaign.
 
LOUISVILLE SPREADING THE WEALTH OFFENSIVELY
The Cardinals have found the net eight times through the first three matches and the offensive output has come from a multitude of players.
 
Through three matches, six different Cardinals have scored and 11 have recorded either a goal or an assist.
 
Seventeen different Cardinals registered at least one point during the 2021 season.
 
CAMARA ONE OF NATION’S BEST GOAL SCORERS
Junior forward Aboubacar Camara has been one of the country’s best goal scorers throughout his collegiate career.
 
He led all ACC goal scorers during the 2021 spring season with five tallies in six matches and then finished 10th nationally with 13 goals last fall. Camara’s scoring prowess was efficient as well, as his 50 shot attempts were the third-fewest among the 14 players…
