Wisconsin tripped up by Panthers

Western Michigan

MILWAUKEE – Junior Maxwell Keenan finished off a cross in the fifth minute to get the Badgers an early 1-0 lead at Milwaukee on Thursday night, but that would be the only time Wisconsin would find the net in a 2-1 loss to the Panthers.

After scoring 16 goals over the last three+ games, including a pair of exhibition contests, the Badgers continued their offensive success early when junior Tim Bielic found Aaron Eli Saevarsson down the left side deep in the Milwaukee (1-2-0) end. Keenan ran onto Saevarsson’s cross and knocked it in for his second goal in as many games as a Badger.

Wisconsin allowed its first goal of the season in the 17th minute, before Milwaukee’s Logan Farrington scored what proved to be the winner on a header in the 58th minute.

The Badgers made a push over the final 15 minutes of play, sending numerous crosses into the box, but failed to connect for the equalizer.

Junior goalkeeper Carter Abbott kept it a 1-1 game late in the first half, stopping a header with a punch out of play. He finished with two saves to his credit.
