The summer of 2022 proved to be a pretty quiet on the transfer front for Liverpool, though there could still be some late twists and turns before the window closes. However, they have a decidedly mixed record when it comes to last-minute deals.
When it comes to deadline day transfers at Liverpool, the Reds will struggle to beat January 2011, when they signed Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll as Fernando Torres joined Chelsea, but they’ve also been busy on the final day of summer windows too.
We’ve looked at the 11 players Liverpool have previously signed on the summer transfer deadline day to see how they fared at Anfield.
Marcelo Pitaluga
Teenage goalkeeper Marcelo made the switch from Fluminense for a reported £1million at the end of 2020 window. He’s made a handful of appearances for Liverpool’s Under-23s and Under-18s and is clearly one earmarked for the future.

Mamadou Sakho
Sakho arrived from Paris Saint-Germain in an £18million deal in the summer of 2013 and enjoyed a promising debut season at Anfield.
He also played an integral role in Liverpool’s run to the Europa League final in 2016 but missed the defeat against Sevilla due to a drug test controversy.
The centre-back eventually fell down the pecking order under Jurgen Klopp after numerous disciplinary issues and was sold to Crystal Palace for £26million in 2017.
