September 1, 2022 – National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL)OL Reign News Release

SEATTLE, WA – The National Women’s Soccer League has partnered with Nationwide for a season-long, community-focused initiative that will promote community partners and local service projects chosen and led by each NWSL club, for the second consecutive season. The Nationwide Community Impact Award once again will be presented during the NWSL Championship weekend in October. The winning community partner will receive a $25,000 donation from Nationwide to further their organization’s efforts.

This season, OL Reign’s Nationwide Community Partner is Intentionalist, an organization committed to intentional spending that supports small businesses and diverse local communities. OL Reign has previously partnered with Intentionalist to promote #Spendlikeitmatters throughout the year. The Founder and CEO of Intentionalist, Laura Clise, was honored as an OL Reign Legend in 2021.

Each club has also designated a player ambassador to champion the Nationwide Community Impact Award efforts and for OL Reign, that player is captain and NWSL original, Lu Barnes.

OL Reign’s appreciation match, which recognizes their community partner, will take place on Saturday, October 1 at Lumen Field. OL Reign would also like to extend a special thanks to Nationwide for supporting our community partner and efforts to make a positive impact in the community, on and off the field.

Anytime during the month of September, tweet your support using #NationwideImpactAward and @olreign within the post! The winner of this Twitter contest will represent the fan vote as part of the overall voting process for the Community Impact Award winner.

Last year, OL Reign won the inaugural award in support of the Black Future Co-Op Fund, a new paradigm for philanthropy uplifting Black-led solutions that ignite Black generational wealth, health, and well-being.
