HARRISON, N.J. – New York Red Bulls II have acquired forward Stiven Plaza on a free transfer from Real Valladolid, pending league and federation approval, the club announced today.
Plaza, 23, made two La Liga appearances with Real Vallodolid during his time with the club. He also made 11 appearances for Real Valladolid B, where he scored a goal and collected an assist.
The midfielder was most recently loaned to Independiente del Valle in the Ecuadorian Serie A. He scored seven goals and tallied four assists over 31 appearances with the club.
“We are excited to bring in an attacking option like Stiven,” Sporting Director Denis Hamlett said. “We hope that his experience and goal-scoring capabilities will provide an immediate impact to the group.”
Plaza made his debut with the Ecuadorian National Team in October of 2018 at the age of 19. He has also featured for Ecuador’s U-20’s.
“Stiven possesses great physical qualities that will help him thrive in our system,” said Interim Head Coach Ibrahim Sekagya. “We are excited to add him to our group of attacking options.”
