This week, the Nebraska soccer team (2-1-1) hosts Portland (2-0-2) on Thursday at 7:05 p.m. (CT) on Big Ten Network+ before traveling to Saint Louis (3-1-0) for a matchup on Sunday at Hermann Stadium, beginning at 1:00 p.m. (CT).

 

Last Time Out

NU tied SDSU on Thursday, 1-1, and then defeated Weber State on Sunday, 3-1.

 

Next Up

The Huskers face NC State on Thursday, Sept. 8 for Pepsi Pack the House before hosting USC on Sunday, Sept. 11.

 

Kicking Off

• Sophomore Sarah Weber, a preseason conference player to watch, leads the team with two goals and 16 shots in four games of play.

• In the goal, junior Sami Hauk has recorded 13 saves and two wins to bring her career total to five victories.

• Nebraska continues its tradition of playing a strong schedule in 2022. This year’s slate features eight NCAA Tournament qualifiers from last season, including two that advanced to the Sweet 16 and one that reached the Elite Eight. 

• This season, the Huskers will have two nationally televised games as both their home game against USC on Sept. 11 and their away game at Purdue on Sept. 29 will be on BTN. 

• During Big Ten play, five of Nebraska’s 10 conference opponents qualified for the NCAA Tournament last season.

• Head Coach John Walker enters his 29th season, alongside assistant coaches Ian Bridge (seventh season), Marty Everding (25th season) and Samantha Areman (second season).

 

Scouting the Portland Pilots

• Portland is 2-0-2 this season. Last week, the Pilots tied Washington State, 0-0, and defeated Montana, 2-0.

• Last season, Portland went 9-8-0 overall en route to a fifth-place finish in the WCC standings.  

• Portland leads the all-time series against Nebraska, 1-7-1, dating back to the first meeting between the schools in 1995. The two teams last met in 2005 in Lincoln, as the Pilots emerged with a 3-2 victory.
