Nittany Lions Fall to the Orange on the Road

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA.- Penn State’s first road match ended in a 1-0 loss to ACC opponent Syracuse. Penn State’s record is now 0-1-1 overall.
 
FIRST HALF
Andrew Privett led the offense in the first half with four shots in a tough, back-and-fourth battle.
 
Kris Shakes held a strong wall in goal four saves in the first half to keep the score tied at 0-0 after 45 minutes.
 
SECOND HALF
The Orange came pressing in the second half totaling 20 shots in just the second half.
 
A combined effort from Shakes and his defense made a game saving stop in the 75th minute, blocking three opportunities resulting in Shakes diving to secure the ball for the Nittany Lions.
 
A set piece in the 78th minute gave Penn State a chance when Seth Kuhn sent the ball over the Orange defense to Peter Mangione. Mangione set the ball for Liam Butts but was blocked by a Syracuse defender. 
 
Just a minute later, Colin Biros put Syracuse ahead with the lone goal of the game in the 79^th minute.
 
The Nittany Lions battled but were unable to convert an opportunity into a point.
