Man Utd to negotiate £153m double ‘operation’ with Ten Hag on verge of fifth signing

Man Utd target Victor Osimhen holds onto the ball

Man Utd will have to fork out £153m if they want to swap Cristiano Ronaldo for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, according to reports.

The Red Devils are still looking to bring in attackers before the transfer window shuts, while Ronaldo’s future still remains up in the air after asking to leave the club earlier in the summer.

If Ronaldo goes then that leaves Erik ten Hag with just Anthony Martial as his main centre-forward option and Osimhen has been linked in recent weeks.

Osimhen has already contributed two goals and an assist in his first two Serie A matches of this season after scoring 14 goals in 27 league appearances last term.

And now Italian newspaper Il Mattino insist that Man Utd are now looking to do a double ‘operation’ with Napoli by swapping Ronaldo for Osimhen.

The Serie A side want €140m for the Nigeria international and at the same time they are asking Man Utd to cover Ronaldo’s €45m wages in a season-long loan deal.

Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has told Napoli that Man Utd are ready for such a ‘drain’ on the club’s purse as they are desperate to move Ronaldo on and bring in  some fresh talent.

Mendes is working ‘night and day’ on the deal with Osimhen ready to ‘accept’ United’s terms if the huge transfer can be agreed between the clubs.

One player who looks almost certain to join Man Utd this summer is Antony and The Athletic journalist David Ornstein has now confirmed that the Red Devils are ‘close to an agreement worth €100m’ for Ajax winger Antony.

Man Utd ‘have now made progress in negotiations’ after having three bids rejected with the last one worth €90m.

Ornstein adds that the deal for Antony ‘will be worth €100m when add-ons are included’ with Erik ten Hag ‘now close to getting his man’.

It’s another huge transfer fee but Man Utd legend Paul Scholes has started ignoring how much players are going for.

Scholes said on BT Sport: “I think you just have to ignore the money these days. The money is just ridiculous for every single player.

“He’s a very talented player. You could probably sit here and say the money is a bit too much for him, but as I said the money is just crazy these days. It’s stopping players from moving…

“The other thing is, is he good enough? I don’t think he has scored that many goals or got that many assists in the Dutch league. It…
