FGCU Shuts Out Northwestern, 1-0


FORT MYERS, Fla. – Northwestern came up short against FGCU 1-0 Sunday (Aug. 28) on the road at the FGCU Soccer Complex.

Northwestern dropped to 0-1-1 on the season following the defeat, while FGCU improved to 1-0-1. For the second straight match the Wildcats endured a lightning delay, and were forced to start tonight’s contest an hour and 20 minutes later than originally scheduled.

How it Happened

After the Eagles took a 1-0 lead into halftime, Northwestern kept FGCU off the scoreboard the remainder of the game. Christian Garner led Northwestern with eight saves. The Wildcats recorded 11 shots in the loss, five of them on goal. Northwestern faced 23 FGCU shots, 10 of them on goal.
