NEED TO KNOW…


•    Riding a three-match winning streak to open the 2022 campaign, No. 5 Duke (3-0) returns home Sunday, Aug. 28 to host Charlotte (0-2-1) at 6 p.m., in Koskinen Stadium.
•    Sunday’s match will be aired live on ACC Network Extra with Dean Linke calling the action.
•    The Duke men’s soccer team will host two matches on Sunday at 12 p.m., and 2:30 p.m., as well and tickets for those matches will be accepted at the women’s match that evening.  
•    The Blue Devils are looking to open the season with a 4-0 ledger for the second straight year, but would mark only the third time since the 2011 campaign.
•    The Blue Devils are 64-6-0 (.914) all-time against non-conference opponents from the state of North Carolina. Duke has won 15 straight matches versus non-conference teams from North Carolina, while outscoring those opponents 54-2.  The last loss was to UNC Greensboro in Chapel Hill on Aug. 28, 2009.
•    Dating back to the 2019 campaign, Duke has won nine straight matches in the month of August.
•    The Blue Devils boast a 49-7-7 record at home at Koskinen Stadium since the start of the 2017 campaign.

•    Duke was preseason ranked No. 2 in the United Soccer Coaches poll, which equals the highest preseason ranking in school history (2015 & 2011).  Overall, the Blue Devils have been placed in the top-10 of the United Soccer Coaches preseason ledger in seven of the last eight years under the direction of head coach Robbie Church.

STORYLINES/OTHER BLUE DEVIL NOTES…

•    In two matches back with the Blue Devils, Michelle Cooper has tallied two assists and one goal.  She assisted on the game-winner against UNCG and Tennessee, while notching the game-tying goal versus the Lady Vols.

•    Duke has scored at least one goal in 16 straight matches, which is the fourth-longest streak in school history – 26 in 1994-95, 20 in 2003-04 & 2017.

•    After being held without a goal last year, senior Sophie Jones has tallied two goals in three matches as she connected against ECU and Tennessee.

•    Duke holds a 24-4 advantage in corner kicks on the season.
