Terps Battle Back From Early Deficit, Tie Navy 1-1

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Maryland battled back from a quick Navy goal to force a tie on Thursday night at Glenn Warner Soccer Facility. 

Navy scored just over a minute into the game, but Maryland answered in the 15th minute when Kam Fisher found the back of the net. The goal was Fisher’s first as a Terrapin. Mikayla Dayes recorded the assist on the play, the ninth of her career.

The two teams were deadlocked for the remainder of the game and the Terps earned their second consecutive tie. Mia Issac and Amanda Schafer both had opportunities to put the Terps ahead in the 84th and 87th minute, respectively, but Mattie Gallagher made the save for Navy both times. 

Dayes and Schafer led the Terps with four shots each. 

Notable Numbers

  • 3: The number of saves Madeline Smith made. 
  • 18: The number of shots Maryland recorded, compared to Navy’s 11. 
  • 285: Maryland’s goal was the first allowed by Navy this season after they started the year on a 285 minute shutout streak.
