Naby Keita (still) ‘not happy’ at Liverpool as Sky Sports stir the pot over Klopp injury claim

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp speaks to Naby Keita

Reports again claim that Naby Keita is “not happy with his situation” at Liverpool as Sky Sports say “people are putting two and two together” after Jurgen Klopp’s excuses for the midfielder’s absence.

Keita is yet to feature for Liverpool this season amid rumours he may be on his way out of Anfield.

Reports last week claimed Keita was ‘unhappy’ at Liverpool as talks over a new contract stalled.

The midfielder’s current deal ends next summer meaning the Reds would lose him on a free transfer if they don’t tie him down.

Even so, it was claimed Liverpool ‘have no intention of allowing’ the midfielder to leave the club in the current window with former club RB Leipzig reportedly taking an interest, and would rather risk losing him for nothing in a year’s time.

Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has doubled down on claims of Keita’s unhappiness, according to Sky Sports‘ Dharmesh Sheth.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “It’s an interesting situation because this came from the very reliable Florian Plettenberg from our colleagues at Sky in Germany.

“He said that Naby Keita is not happy with his situation. Keita is into the final year of his contract and there’s no sign of him extending that contract just now.”

And Sheth further stirred the pot by suggesting Klopp’s excuse for Keita not starting was a bit fishy…

“It was very interesting what happened yesterday because he wasn’t in the squad at all for that game at Old Trafford and Jurgen Klopp said it was a crazy injury that he got,” he added.

“He said that he just fell and he hurt himself. Now, a lot of people have been putting two and two together and thinking that doesn’t sound right.”

Hmmm, how very coincidental. Probably just injured, Dharmesh.

Klopp insisted ahead of Liverpool’s defeat to Manchester United that Keita would not be going anywhere this summer.

Klopp said: “Selling Naby now? And not replacing him? No, that is not possible! Of course not. But it is not the plan.

“We are done (in the transfer market), it’s not that we think a player can go and we don’t replace him. There’s no chance. No. Naby will not go but if he would – but he will not do! – then there must be a replacement of course, it’s clear. And yeah, sure, it would be very difficult to replace him.”
