Top 10 Players With Most Goals For A Single Club In Football

Despite the complexities involved in modern football, one thing has never changed, the supremacy of goals. A goal is an event that generates the maximum noise in a stadium. And even when there is talk of the best players in the game, the list is dominated by goalscorers. However, in modern football, several players move through multiple clubs during their careers due to the massive influx of money.

Of course, there are exceptions to this rule. Some players do manage to stay at a single club and score at an astonishing rate for a single club. Players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have been doing it for the better part of their careers. And there are others as well.

So, we at FootTheBall look at the top 10 highest goalscorers for a single club.

10. Cristiano Ronaldo – 450 goals for Real Madrid

Cristiano Ronaldo has played at Sporting CP, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus throughout his career. However, his goal-scoring proficiency has been such that he finds his place among the top 10 single club goalscorers. After moving to Real Madrid at a world-record fee, Ronaldo got to his main job, scoring goals.

The Portuguese scored a whooping 450 goals in 438 matches, an average of 1.02 goals per match. In his nine-year stay at the club, Ronaldo won 15 trophies. On top of that, he was at his best in the Champions League, where he helped Real win four titles. Moreover, he did this while perhaps having the best football rivalry with Lionel Messi.

9. Eusebio – 473 goals for Benfica

While Ronaldo may have broken several records in all-time goals for a single club, he is behind his countrymen. Eusebio was one of the game’s biggest stars in the 60s and 70s. The Portuguese played most of his career at SL Benfica, where he scored an impressive 470 goals.

His brute goals scoring would lead to an era of Benfica domination where the team won 11 titles in 15 years. Eusebio would also win a European Super Cup and help Portugal finish third in the 1966 World Cup. Eusebio would score 50 goals in the 1967-68 season, his most prolific.
